Dubit Job Spec - Unity Technical Artist

We are a growing sixty-plus team based in Leeds. We are looking for an exceptional Unity Technical Artist who wants to create mobile games for kids. Dubit works with start-ups and major kids brands in the UK, America, Middle East, and Asia. We’ve created  mobile games for Lego, Discovery, PBS kids and the BBC amongst others. We make products millions of kids love, and and hope you want to do that too!

As a Unity Technical Artist  you will work closely with our Unity team and creative team. The ideal candidate will come with extensive Unity experience,  a thorough understanding of coding new shaders, Lighting and particle FX work inside Unity.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to building amazing mobile Unity experiences including VR/AR
  • Support the creative team, building a Maya to Unity pipeline
  • Lighting and Shading scenes and assets in Unity
  • Using Unity’s particle system to design and create FX
  • Create and debug shader and materials graphs throughout production
  • Working with Unity’s animation system, including controller & state machines
  • Support the development team with level implementation/blocking out in Unity
  • Work with the creative team to optimise content and meet run-time performance requirements

Essential Skills:

  • Unity for 3D
  • Maya/Unity workflows
  • PFX, lighting and Shading in Unity
  • Understanding of the PBR workflow and working with Textures for look development
  • Some Unity C# scripting skills

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Scripting for Maya to help with tools to improve workflow
  • Experience producing pipeline tools for Maya
  • Experience with character rigging for Unity mechanism
  • Experience with VR, AR and mobile development
  • Experience with performance profiling in Unity
  • Experience writing tools and UI panels for Unity
  • Proven games industry experience
  • Experience with the Amplify, Substance suite and Substance Automation  or similar Tools
  • Shader coding in HLSL / GLSL

Personal attributes:

  • Ability to think creatively and resolve technical challenges and limitations.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels, both on a technical and creative basis.
  • Artistically as well as technically inclined
